Announcement of the new Rector for Benefice of Rural East York
It was announced this morning, 7th May, at the 10.30 Benefice service that the Reverend Katharine McBride has accepted the offer to become Rector of the Benefice of Rural East York.
Bishop John says of Kath’s appointment: ‘I am delighted that Revd Kath McBride has accepted the role of Rector of Rural East York. Kath brings significant experience of teaching, leadership and parish ministry in rural and suburban settings which will enrich this Benefice and add wisdom to Derwent Deanery as they seek to live Christ’s Story in their varied settings.’
Revd Kath McBride says of her appointment: ‘I am so pleased to have been chosen to serve in the benefice of Rural East York, and I’m excited about working alongside the congregations to grow the churches in Holtby, Warthill, Stockton on the Forest and Dunnington. It's a great opportunity to explore multi-parish ministry in a more rural setting and to minister creatively, reaching out to these communities with Jesus' love. Phil, Ben, Sam and I look forward to joining you soon. I'd like to thank everyone at Strensall St Mary's for all their encouragement and support during my curacy, I learned a lot from you and I really appreciate your prayers and good wishes as I move on.’
We will let you know details of her Licensing service as soon as this has been arranged.
We are really happy that Revd Kath is becoming our Rector. Please pray for Revd Kath and her family as she prepares to take up her position and for all of us as we prepare to welcome her.
