Dunnington Cancer Support

supporting York Against Cancer

Whilst the shop is still closed, we have continued to have a book sale outside the charity shop, the last one we had raised £72.00. Thank you to all who supported us and brought us books to sell.

We are beginning to sort and clear the shop in preparation for the refurbishment. We plan to have a sale to reduce the amount of stock. Please watch out for notices the first one will be on Saturday 24th October along with the book sale. Please watch  for notices for further sales.

Can we please remind people NOT to leave bags outside the cancer shop. Sadly, we are CLOSED and any bags left are classed as fly tipping. Two bags were recently left outside the shop and we had no option but to put the bags in the bin. There will be a notice when we open in January, and we will welcome all your donations at that point.

Thank you for your understanding in these unprecedented times.

Dunnington in Bloom

How fortunate we are to have a lovely village and adjacent countryside to enjoy when all around us things are getting more difficult and restricted.

It's good to have our Bloom gardeners continuing their work. Julia's Garden is still worth a detour when you're in the vicinity of Common Road. The Eastfield Lane corner is in full autumn glory, colourful and pleasing to the eye whether one's passing in the car or relaxing on the bench to admire Wicker Man and his surroundings at leisure.  Moving then into the centre and along York Street, it's clear the ambience is enhanced by the work of the Wednesday grasscutting and weed-destroying teams.

And, before this is printed, all the ongoing work on the fence by the railway bridge will have been completed by the addition of a fresh coat of paint.
