THANK YOU, to all who donated to the appeal for The Royal British Legion in Warthill. A very generous £250.00 was collected in lieu of the Poppy Appeal which was cancelled due to Covid 19 restrictions this year.

Unique gifts from Foil for Snappy

Looking for that unusual or unique gift for Christmas; or just something different for yourself?

Foil for Snappy have been saving all the steel bottle caps donated in the metal recycling collection and using them to create mosaics.

Each one contains more than 500 pieces and the designs are based on the colours available so they are very limited edition. Boxed as jigsaw kits for you to put together yourself, you could even glue the bottle caps down to create a stunning piece of wall art if you want.

Only £15 each with all proceeds going to The Snappy Trust.

(More designs will be available as soon as we have collected enough bottle caps of the needed colours; an Owl, Minster and Butterfly are almost complete)

Books by John Nursey

Looking for a Christmas stocking filler? Or just a treat for yourself?

Local writer John Nursey has created two books of verse ‘Exit Stage Right’ and ‘Where Curlews Call’ containing a selection of poems; some humorous, some thought provoking, but all celebrating Yorkshire life.

They are being sold in aid of The Snappy Trust at the bargain price of just £3 each or £5 for the pair. No longer available to buy new at Waterstones or Amazon this could be your last opportunity to own these lovely limited edition books.

Perfect to post as a Christmas gift for someone.

Stockton on the Forest Village Hall still needs a new Bookings Secretary!

The current Booking Secretary is retiring at the end of 2020 so if the village hall is going to be able to operate at all from January 2021 we need someone to help out with this role now. It is a voluntary post but expenses are paid and training will be given. The position takes a few hours work each week but is very rewarding.

Bookings and events at the hall are VERY quiet at the moment due to Covid restrictions so this is the perfect time to get involved.

If you want to know more come along to the next Committee Meeting on Monday 16th November at 7.30pm in the Long Room at the Village Hall (please wear a mask). Or email softnews@gmail.com for more information.
