WI meetings continue to be cancelled, but the committee continues to work behind the scenes. Trying to plan for next year, compiling and sending out yet another newsletter, keeping in touch with all members, sending birthday cards and thinking about resolutions for next year. The Natonal WI raffle is still going ahead so each member has received a ticket and we hope that some of the prizes might come our way in October.

This is Dunnington’s 85th anniversary year and we are seeking stories, pictures and reminiscences from at least some of those years. If anyone has anything to contribute to a future (albeit delayed) celebration, please send to Chris.dunningtonwi@gmail.com .

All this committee activity does not make up for the missing social get togethers and afternoon teas that characterise our WI, but they will resume as soon as it is safe to do so. In the meantime, enjoy the summer.

Postponement of Dunnington NSPCC Hidden Gardens

The NSPCC Hidden Gardens charity fundraiser is usually held in the alternate year to the church’s charity Scarecrow event. This year the church has postponed their Scarecrow event due to the Covid19 situation. In response to a request from St Nicholas’ church the NSPCC Committee has agreed, after careful consideration, not to put on Hidden Gardens in 2021.

We always appreciate the support we receive from the villagers and people in the surrounding area when we put on this event and wanted to give you advance notice of this change.

Thankyou for all your patience whilst our charity shop is temporary closed.

With the lockdown restrictions beginning to ease and the go ahead given to charity shops subject to government guidelines.

Our chair lady is currently looking at ways and options for the possibility to join other shops and open our doors once again, and to ensure that our shop is safe and following guidelines before we welcome people and donations back again. As you will appreciate we are a small shop which needs some careful thinking before we can open again.

Continue to stay safe.
