Introducing Lisa Horton - our new Children and Families Worker

Hello

I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Lisa Horton and I have recently been appointed as the new Children & Family worker here in the Benefice of Rural East York. I am originally from Nottinghamshire, where I lived all my life until we moved to Norton nearly 12 years ago. On moving here, I had just qualified as a Primary School teacher and have spent the last 12 years teaching in several Primary Schools across North Yorkshire. Children and their families are at the heart of my working roles and I thoroughly enjoy seeing children grow and develop in all their learning both inside and outside the classroom.

I have two almost grown-up sons, Luke, who has nearly completed his A levels & Alexander, who is currently in Year 10. I love spending my spare time with my boys but I also enjoy running, walking, baking, playing the piano and dancing (especially Salsa). When I can, I love to travel and experience new cultures and places.

I am really looking forward to my new role and building relationships with the families in the parishes and my hope is that together we can develop more opportunities for children and families in the diocese to grow and flourish. Please come and say hello if you see me and I will be more than happy to have a chat.

God bless

Lisa
